Overview
France, 1386. A noblewoman's accusation of rape by her husband's rival sets in motion a brutal resolution ordained by the crown: trial by combat, where God supposedly decides the truth. Ridley Scott tells the same events three times, once through the eyes of each person at the center of the conflict, and the gaps between their versions say everything about power, memory, and whose version of the truth gets to survive.
