Overview
Harold Shand has spent years clawing his way from the Cockney underworld toward something that looks almost respectable. With American Mafia money potentially within reach and a grand vision for redeveloping London, the timing could not be better. Then the bombs start going off. In a single catastrophic weekend, his pubs, his associates, and his credibility are systematically destroyed by an enemy he cannot identify. Bob Hoskins is ferocious in the lead, turning what could be a standard gangster picture into a portrait of a man watching his empire dissolve in real time.
