Overview
Alexandria in 391 A.D. was burning, not from conquest but from conviction. Philosopher Hypatia taught mathematics and astronomy in a city increasingly hostile to reason, while her enslaved student Davus wrestled with a choice that mirrored the age itself: loyalty to a woman who valued knowledge above all, or freedom found inside a faith that promised something more. Alejandro Amenabar frames the collision of science, religion, and power as a story that feels achingly contemporary.
