Overview
László Tóth arrives in postwar America carrying little more than his drafting instincts and the memory of everything he lost. Pennsylvania becomes his proving ground, where a wealthy patron offers him the commission of a lifetime and the kind of control that can curdle into something darker. As his wife eventually joins him on foreign soil, the couple discovers that reinvention in the new world comes with strings attached, and patrons who giveth can just as easily taketh away.
