Overview
Wyoming, 1963. Two ranch hands spend a summer herding sheep on a remote mountainside and leave changed in ways neither can fully name. What follows spans two decades, as Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist build separate lives, marry, have children, and keep returning to each other against every instinct telling them not to. Ang Lee directs with quiet devastation, trusting landscape and silence to carry what the characters cannot say out loud.
