Overview
Julie Taymor's vivid portrait follows Mexican painter Frida Kahlo from a near-fatal bus accident through her turbulent marriage to muralist Diego Rivera. Rather than treating suffering as a passive condition, the film shows how Kahlo transformed physical agony and emotional betrayal into increasingly urgent, unflinching self-portraits. Her art becomes not an escape from pain but its most honest expression.
