Overview
Paris, 1968. While students riot in the streets, an American abroad named Matthew falls into the orbit of two French siblings, Isabelle and Theo, who pull him inside their shuttered apartment and their world of cinema, philosophy, and physical obsession. Bernardo Bertolucci frames the film as a hothouse of ideas and bodies, where political upheaval outside the windows mirrors the personal boundaries dissolving within. Innocence and transgression become impossible to separate.
