Overview
Set in 1962 Baltimore, at the height of Cold War paranoia, Guillermo del Toro's film follows Elisa, a mute cleaning woman employed at a secretive government laboratory. When a mysterious aquatic creature arrives as a classified asset, Elisa finds in him something she has never found among people: genuine connection. What begins as stolen visits during lunch breaks quietly becomes something larger, more desperate, and more beautiful than either of them could survive alone.
