Overview
New York, the early 1950s. Therese is a young department store employee still figuring out what she wants from life when a chance encounter with Carol, a glamorous but quietly unhappy married woman, turns everything sideways. What begins as a polite transaction becomes an obsession, then something neither woman can easily name. Todd Haynes shoots the whole affair through fogged glass and winter light, making desire feel both gorgeous and precarious in equal measure.
